A VOLATILE MIXTURE
"A Volatile Mixture"
Overview:
Add another notch to Neil Tupling’s musical belt following stints in Lost Souls Division, The Golden Eagles and Final Stage. This is a special notch though. All music was written by Neil and performed by himself and some special guests to fill out AVM’s debut EP. The title track leads off the album in a grunge-esque mood that would resemble Jerry Cantrell’s Dirt-era riffage along with harmonies where one could expect Layne Staley to jump in with a signature “yeaaahhhhhhh”. Although Neil has primarily been known as a bass player, he shows off his chops as a lead guitarist on "Eat of the Apple" and traded solos with Chris Barrette on "Walking the Mile". Barrette's touch on leads are heard throughout the other three tracks on the album as well. Neil’s preference for album breadth with the piano ballad “Love Is A Hell Of A Thing” which ultimately adds to mix tape vibe for the debut album with Neil as the cohesive element that unites all tracks. Not only are there moments reminiscent of Alice in Chains, but even as far as Neil Young, Guns N’ Roses, and even to Billy Joel that blend from mid-range rock, grunge, and to adult contemporary. A Volatile Mixture is another well-produced album from The Shark Tank (Mark Plancke) with a sheen mix consistent over all tracks that tempts us to bite the fruit.
Smells like:
Peameal bacon and vanilla candles
Tastes like:
Big-ass steak and big-ass baked potatoes
Feels like:
Those worn-in jeans that have been through every situation and need to be framed
Looks like:
A campfire in a one-saloon town. No Wifi available.
** "Eat of the Apple" was featured on the Walkerville Mixtape (Volume 2): http://betruewindsor.com/wmt---volume-2.html
